LEGAZPI CITY – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. V (MGB RO-V) is set to conduct its first leg of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Campaign on February 19-24, 2020 to three (3) schools region-wide and one (1) local government unit, namely: Pamplona National Highschool, University of St. Anthony in Iriga City, Matalipni Elementary School in Malinao and LGU-Guinobatan.
MGB RO-V together with EMB-V and DENR-V personnel are tasked to orient students and participants on topics, such as “Introduction to Geologic Hazards and their Effects, Importance of Minerals and Responsible Mining; Philippine Biodiversity, Ecological Solid Waste Management and Clean Air and Clean Water Act”. Said activity shall also be participated by the mascots of MGB-V, DENR-V and EMB-V named: Mina Minera, Greeny and Veron, respectively.
This IEC Campaign is in line with the on-going priority program on geohazard and responsible mining awareness to inform, educate and empower the youth and LGUs to provide opportunity for the Bureau to build strong stakeholders partnership and capacitate the youth and local officials on disaster risk reduction through heightened community awareness and preparedness through Information campaign.
