Ten incoming Fourth Year Students of Bicol University taking Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering (BSEM) have recently completed 320 hours of Mine and Mill Practice as part of their work immersion program with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. V (MGB R.O.-V).
The BSEM interns namely, Jashmine Dolz M. Barrientos, Elaine Therese O. Quiros. Ejibelle Mae A. Zaragoza, Rean Lyn L. Abaroa, Hanika M. Samaniego, Arthur R. Fajardo, Aljie M. Benito, Joshua Joseph R. Balquin, Jogie M. Sera Jose, and Julian Saul Dipad officially completed their On-the-Job Training for Mine and Mill practice which started on June 1 and lasted until August 5, 2022.
They were given tasks to enhance their technical knowledge and skills, given the opportunity to participate in the MGB R.O.-V activities such as the Multi-partite Monitoring Team in Filminera Resources Corporation/Phil Gold Processing and Refining Corp. (FRC/PGPRC) and UBS Marketing Corporation; Seminar and Training workshop for Small-Scale Miners of Aroroy, Masbate; and the Integrated Safety and Health, Environment, and Social Development (ISHES) Monitoring at balong Resources and Development Corporation, FRC/PGPRC, and Rapu-Rapu Minerals, Inc. Further, they were also given the chance to participate in the DENR-V “Laro ng Lahi”, DENR 35th founding Anniversary, Philippine Environment Month, and Sportsfest.
The Work Immersion Program is aimed to enable the students to gain relevant and practical industrial skills under the guidance of industry experts and workers; to apply principles and theories taught in school, and to develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work.
